As an undergraduate art student at UC Davis, Katherine studied with Wayne Thiebaud and Roland Peterson. After earning a B.A. in Fine Arts and elementary and secondary teaching credentials, she taught in SF Bay Area public schools. Katherine re-trained in computer programming and worked as a technician in the corporate world for 25 years. She built her expertise and experience in web design and development and now works with her husband, Bob Hitchman, producing his Photograph America Newsletter.

Katherine's book, A Leg Up: How I Learned to Horseback Ride Starting at Age 40, is available through online booksellers Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and iUniverse.com. Her husband's photographs illustrate her stories.

Katherine paints in acrylics, and is currently exploring the equine image, local scenes, and use of the palette knife in her art work. She enjoys riding her American Saddlebred mare and playing tunes on her squeezebox.
