As an undergraduate art student at UC Davis, Katherine studied with Wayne Thiebaud and Roland Peterson. After earning a B.A. in Fine Arts and elementary and secondary teaching credentials, she taught in San Francisco Bay Area public schools. Katherine returned to college to train in computer programming and technology.

Katherine worked as a technician in the corporate world for 25 years. With 20 of those years with Charles Schwab and Company, she built expertise and experience in web design, development, and usability. Katherine now works with her husband, Robert Hitchman, producing and providing technical support for Photograph America Newsletter.

Katherine's book, "A Leg Up: How I Learned to Horseback Ride Starting at Age 40", is available through Photograph America and through online booksellers Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and iUniverse.com. Robert's photographs illustrate her stories. A small cookbook, "Dancing in the Kitchen: Recipes from a Tap Dancer", was also created by Katherine, as a tribute to her mother, and sold through the website.

Katherine paints in acrylics, and enjoys riding her American Saddlebred mare and playing tunes on her squeezebox.
