S. K. Maxwell--Jewelry

This design is modeled from the sidesaddle for women riders, first introduced to Great Britain in 1382. The sidesaddle was the start of more independent travel for women, and was considered safer and "more becoming" for an equestrienne. The high pommel of a man's saddle was moved to the left for a rider to grip with her leg.
